Microdermabrasion
Controlled exfoliation to remove dead skin cells from the surface, for smoothness, radiance and texture.
For the face

What is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion uses controlled mechanical exfoliation, without surgery, to remove dead skin cells from the skin's surface. It may help improve smoothness, radiance and texture, and may reduce the appearance of some superficial pigmentation with repeated treatments.
How is it performed?
- We check your skin for any areas to avoid, such as active breakouts or broken skin, and set the suction to suit it.
- We pass the microdermabrasion handpiece over the skin. It buffs the surface and lifts away dead skin cells with light suction.
- We finish with a moisturiser and explain your aftercare.
How does it work?
A specialised handpiece is passed over the skin to exfoliate part of the stratum corneum, the outermost layer of the epidermis, made up mainly of dead skin cells.
Depending on the device, a fine diamond tip or exfoliating crystals are used alongside controlled suction to remove loosened skin cells and treatment debris.
Reducing this surface buildup helps the skin feel smoother and look brighter and more even.
How may it help with pigmentation?
Appropriate, repeated exfoliation may help reduce the appearance of some superficial pigmentation, by removing surface cells that contain pigment and supporting skin renewal.
Microdermabrasion does not stop melanin production, and its effect varies with the type and depth of pigmentation. It may therefore form part of a personalised plan combining targeted skincare, sun protection and other suitable treatments.
Who may benefit?
Microdermabrasion may help improve:
- Dullness and loss of radiance.
- A buildup of dead skin cells and surface roughness.
- Uneven skin texture and tone.
- The appearance of some dark spots and superficial pigmentation.
- Discolouration left after acne, once inflammation has resolved.
- The appearance of fine surface lines.
Its main role is to improve the skin's surface. It is not a primary treatment for deep scars or significant skin laxity.
Who it may not suit
It may not be suitable with active breakouts, broken skin, some skin conditions or very sensitive skin.
We confirm suitability at your consultation.

Common questions
Still have a question? Email us.
Do I need a consultation first?
Yes. We assess your skin, medical history and goals before any treatment, and explain your options and costs. You decide afterwards whether to go ahead.
Can I go back to work afterwards?
Many people do, as any pinkness usually fades within hours.
Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
Not always. We check your skin at your consultation and suggest another option if it is not suitable.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on your skin and your goals. We agree a plan with you at your consultation.
How much does it cost?
A single session is £150 for the face. That is the price for one session, not a package, and includes VAT. Your consultation is free: we confirm your price there, and explain any package price if a course of sessions may suit you.
